# repos_list_commits

> List commits, newest first. Narrow with `sha` for a branch, `path` for one file's history, or `since`/`until` for a window.

## Path parameters

## Query parameters

  | `page`    | `integer` | The page number of the results to fetch. Defaults to 1. <span className="field-constraints">≥ 1; defaults to `1`</span>                                   |
  | `sha`     | `string`  | SHA or branch to start listing commits from. Defaults to the repository's default branch.                                                                 |
  | `path`    | `string`  | Only commits containing this file path will be returned.                                                                                                  |
  | `author`  | `string`  | GitHub username or email address to filter commits by author.                                                                                             |
  | `since`   | `string`  | Only commits after this date will be returned, in ISO 8601 format: `YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SSZ`. <span className="field-constraints">format `date-time`</span>  |
  | `until`   | `string`  | Only commits before this date will be returned, in ISO 8601 format: `YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SSZ`. <span className="field-constraints">format `date-time`</span> |
